Located in the heart of Andalusia in southern Spain, the site includes three megalithic monuments: the Menga and Viera Dolmen and the Tolos of El Romeral, and two natural monuments: the Peña de los Enamorados and El Torcal, two striking mountain formations in the area.
The monuments built in the Neolithic and Bronze Age are made up of large stone blocks that form rooms whose roofs are made up of lintels or false domes.
The three tombs buried under the original earthen burial mounds are among the most remarkable architectural structures of European prehistory.
They are one of the most important examples of European Megalithism.
